004 - Divorced Dad Minute: Divorce Management Fundamentals: Play Now | Play in Popup | Downloads 4730The first rule of "Divorce Management Fundamentals" is this: Get your act together; get your emotions under control. Focus on your children. You were child once. You're an adult now.
It's not your turn to be acting like a child. Your kids need your best examples of how to be civil with each other. They need your example of how to end a relationship maturely, with integrity, not hate.
They need that example desperately. They need a standard they can count on, look up to and to emulate in their life's journey. They are looking to you and their mother to set that example. And make no mistake, kids will see you as liars and hypocrites if you deliver anything less.
Let's face it. Divorce is the most difficult of situations for kids because they have absolutely no control of how it unfolds, plays out and/or affects their well being and development.
Parents are the ones that are choosing to separate. Get yourself together so that you can be there to help your kids through this process.
Kids often think they're the ones to blame.
Remember to tell them, "It's not your fault."
Listen to today's Divorced Dad Minute to learn how….come back often for new insights on how you can begin turning your situation around today.
